NICET Fire Alarm · NERC System Operator
Know you’re ready before you walk in.
Certification prep for two very different exams, built on the same idea: tell people the truth about where they stand. Adaptive drills that hunt your weak spots, a real timed simulator, and a readiness estimate that is an estimate, never a pass prediction.
Free to start on either track. No card required.
Two certifications
Both tracks run on the same engine: adaptive drills, an honest readiness estimate, a real timed simulator. What differs is the exam they are built for, and the two are opposites.
NICET · Open book
Fire Alarm Systems, Level II
The exam is open book, which sounds generous until the clock starts. The answer is in NFPA 72 somewhere. The question is whether you can find it fast enough, again and again, with the clock running.
- A code-navigation trainer: timed lookup sprints that drill finding the right chapter, not answering the question
- Every question ends with an “open your book and confirm §…” pointer, so you practise with the book you will sit with
- A full timed simulator: 110 questions in 155 minutes
$199 once
One payment for 12-month access.
Free to start on either track. No card required.
NERC · Closed book
System Operator Certification
Four exams: RC, BITO, TO and BI. All sat closed book, against standards that get revised on NERC's schedule rather than yours. The hard part is studying the version that is actually in force on your exam date.
- Every question is verified against a specific document version, and pulled for re-verification when that version changes
- A public currency ledger showing which version each document is on, and what is paused for re-checking
- Glossary flashcard drills for the NERC Glossary terms the exams lean on
From $99
A 30-day cram pass across all four exams, or a single exam for 12-month access.
Free to start on either track. No card required.
The honest difference
We won’t promise you’ll pass.
Anyone can slap a “98% pass rate” on a landing page. We’d rather earn your trust. TabTheCode gives you an honest readiness estimate, not a made-up pass probability, so you know where you stand and what to work on next. When you walk in, it’s because you’re ready, not because we told you what you wanted to hear.
How it works
Adaptive drills that hunt your weak spots
Every answer updates a per-topic estimate of your ability, so your next questions go after the spots where you're shaky instead of the stuff you've already got.
A real exam, before the real exam
A full timed simulator built to your exam's own length and clock. The clock runs on our server, so closing the tab doesn't pause it. By exam day, none of it feels new.
Every question cites its source
Each one names the document and the version it was verified against, so you can check it yourself. We never reproduce the standard's text. You study with your own copy.
Built for how you actually study
Spaced-repetition review that resurfaces what you're about to forget, a built-in calculator for sizing math, and a layout made for your phone on a job site.
Questions
Which certification is this for?
Two of them. NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II, and the NERC System Operator certifications (RC, BITO, TO and BI). They are different exams with different formats, so each track is built for its own. Pick yours and the whole app follows it.
Do you guarantee I'll pass?
No. No honest tool can, and we'd be wary of anyone who says otherwise. What we do is give you a straight readiness estimate and target your weak spots, so you walk in prepared.
Are you affiliated with NFPA, NICET or NERC?
No. TabTheCode is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NFPA, NICET or NERC.
Is this a subscription? How do I cancel?
It isn't a subscription, so there's nothing to cancel. Every plan is a single payment that unlocks everything for a fixed window of 30 days or 12 months, depending which you buy. We don't keep your card on file and you're never charged again; when the window ends your account goes back to the free plan and your history stays put.
Can I study on my phone?
Yes. It's built mobile-first, for studying between jobs.
What's in the free plan?
Adaptive drills from the free question set, your readiness snapshot, and the calculator, on either track. Enough to see how the method works before you pay for anything.
